What Does “Gently Used” Furniture & Decorative Accessories Mean?

Driven by the belief that a life well-lived means surrounding yourself with beauty and soul, we seek out vintage, antique, and contemporary furniture from around the country and, sometimes, the world. Finding these character-rich items at estate sales, flea markets, antique malls, local resellers, garage sales, through friends, and oh-so-many other places.

No matter where we find them, someone else has previously loved each piece of furniture. They are not new and untouched. We LOVE that and want to see them used and enjoyed in your homes, too, rather than see beautiful, well-made, and lovingly crafted chairs and sofas thrown into the trash. Although it’s true, Steve and I look for pieces of furniture in excellent condition. Or, unique pieces in good enough condition that we can either refurbish back to excellent condition or appreciate the scars on an antique for its long, interesting life. Hence, the labels of “gently used” and “previously loved” that you will see pop up throughout our website.

Each piece has LIVED and has a story to tell.

Practically speaking, when we say “gently used,” we mean that all furniture pieces or decorative accessories are like new or were rarely used, leaving the item in very good to excellent condition. All items, where applicable, have handles, fabric, and mechanisms in good working condition.

The condition of an item and any exception to the definition of gently used is always specified in the item’s description. If further photos are needed, we would be happy to send them to you or introduce you to the piece of furniture in person at our showroom.
